  • Register to vote! Go to the Alliance's voting information page to learn more about voter registration, voting, and elections.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Become involved in ensuring your community is ready to assist people with disabilities in case of an emergency (and make sure you and your business are ready, too!)
  • Need to file a complaint? Read here about various agencies and organizations that handle grievances and what their procedures are for accepting complaints.
  • Join our advocacy team: Only through individual community members being active in advocacy efforts can we be effective in making a difference. Join our advocacy team and the Alliance will send you information on critical disability issues, as they arise.

  • General guidelines for government-funded non-profits:
Do you work for a government-funded non-profit and want to learn more about how you can engage in advocacy or lobbying? Here are resources for you!
    • Advocacy from the Inside: An advocacy guide for those working in the government or a government-funded agency. Explains the difference between advocacy and lobbying.
    • Department of Justice: More information on lobbying restrictions for those receiving $100,000 or more in government grants.
    • Learn how you can use the 501(h) election to determine the amount your non-profit can spend on lobbying. The 501(h) form may be found on the IRS website.
    • Before deciding to engage in lobbying, government-funded non-profits may want to review OMB Circular A-122.
