News:
- Save the Date for Alliance's 2008 Annual Meeting! It will be at 1:00 pm on
May 31st at the Seattle Center (Shaw Room, which is one of the Northwest Rooms). More details to follow soon!
- A wellness program is being launched at the Alliance! The Living Well with a Disability program
uses goal setting and problem solving as the framework for developing healthy lifestyles. Most of us practice healthy living when we have meaningful activities we want to do, so the Living Well programs begins with why we want to be well. Then, the focus moves on to developing tools and skills for healthy living. This is an eight-week course that will begin in March. Please email marybeth@disabilitypride.org, if you are interested in learning more.
- The Alliance's 2007-2008 Youth Transition Club is now meeting! This is a great opportunity to meet other teens with disabilities, learn skills, visit new places, and explore options for about life after high school. Please call 206-633-6623 for more information. At the club's March meeting, there will be a special guest speaker on personal safety.
- As a person with a disability, are you ready to sustain yourself in case of a disaster? The Alliance would like to assist you in this effort and is working to ensure people with disabilities are included in community-wide emergency preparedness planning. We have put together a series of planning tools for you to use and are currently holding peer group meetings devoted to this topic. We hope to see you there!
Current Poll: How involved are you OR how involved would you like to be in the political process?
We are interested in learning more about your involvement in the political process! Are you registered to vote? If not, why not? Do you participate in advocacy efforts? Are you even interested in politics? Do you feel your participation in the political process makes a difference? Let us know!
