Volunteer Opportunities

1. Board Members: The Alliance is accepting applications for its Board of Directors! If you have a passion for advocacy and a head for business, perhaps this is the opportunity for you! You may download an application online or contact the Alliance's Executive Director at 206-545-7055 or jeanette at disabilitypride dot org.

2. Outreach Assistants: The Alliance is looking to spread information on its services to organizations and individuals around King County. Volunteers could help by posting flyers, distributing brochures, and sharing information on the Alliance with non-profits, community groups, and businesses.

3. Translators: The Alliance is seeking assistance in translating brochures and marketing materials into a variety of languages, including: Korean, Russian, Mandarin, Braille, Vietnamese, and Japanese. People fluent in other languages would also be welcome! We would like to have our information available to people in as many languages as possible.

4. Readers: The Alliance provides material on audio tapes to individuals who are blind. Volunteers who are interested in reading materials on to tapes are encouraged to contact us.

5. Advocacy Specialists: Volunteers could help research information about various advocacy issues, create fact sheets, organize awareness building events, and much more!

6. Data Entry Specialists: Information related to community contacts would be entered into a database for use in outreach efforts.

7. Phone Callers: There are a number of options for people interested in this type of position. Volunteers could help with:

a. Calling apartment complexes to see if they are accessible and if they accept Section 8 vouchers.
b. Calling medical offices to see if they accept Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP or Basic Health Insurance.

8. Mailing Assistants: Volunteers would assist with periodic mailings by collating information and stuffing and labeling envelopes. Opportunities are available about once a quarter.

To obtain an application, please call
206-545-7055 or e-mail charity@disabilitypride.org.
